PK-3 Early Childhood Education Specialist Credential Focus Groups Spring 2022
The Commission on Teacher Credentialing is seeking Early Childhood Education stakeholders to join targeted focus groups to receive feedback on the PK-3 ECE Specialist Credential. The Credential is a joint vision for the early education workforce as called for in the CA Master Plan for Early Learning and Care and will provide a bridge for Early Childhood Educators as requirements and pathways are currently under field review. A series of upcoming focus groups will help to guide recommendations by working with Early Childhood Education stakeholders that include future teachers, current teachers, community college and 4-year universities, and program directors. Early childhood education expertise is needed to develop an ECE-centric credential for California’s youngest learners. Credential pathway programs are anticipated beginning as early as 2023.
Upcoming focus groups are looking for participants from targeted stakeholder groups. Please see the list of focus group dates/times and register for the focus group that fits your targeted demographic. Each focus groups will be limited to 25 participants to ensure all voices and perspectives are heard.

These focus groups are organized around three central questions:
  • How might a Pk-3 credential impact the professional career choices or pathway of a student or teacher?
  • What might you need for support?
  • What opportunities or challenges do you see with the availability of/implementing this new credential?
