CalFTPA 2-Day Virtual Professional Development Opportunity 

The California Formative Teaching Performance Assessment (CalFTPA) is an optional assessment tailored for early childhood students pursuing an ECE Teacher level permit. The Commission on Teacher Credentialing will host a CalFTPA  2-day professional development training virtually on Wednesday, July 31st and Thursday, August 1st, from 9 am to 4 pm. This professional development is specifically designed for current Early Childhood Education Faculty. Join us for a collaborative session to delve deeper into the CalFTPA and discover how your program can get involved. Participants that complete the 2-day virtual training in its entirety will receive a certificate.  

Register here to secure your spot. We kindly ask that all participants that register for the CalFTPA professional development training attend both sessions (7/31 and 8/1, 9:00 am-4:00 pm. We look forward to your participation on July 31st and August 1st!

Initial Program Review (IPR) Office Hours

The Initial Program Review (IPR) Team is available the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 11:00 am – noon to answer questions from institutions proposing new educator preparation programs, including the new PK-3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential. Please join us and bring your questions about anything having to do with the IPR process: from the basics of how to get started to the details of addressing the standards, preconditions, and TPEs. We’re here to provide the tools you need to build a thorough submission. The IPR team is also available to meet with institutions individually outside of office hours.

CTC ECE Summer Book Club   

Join the ECE team at the Commission on Teacher Credentialing this summer for a book club focusing on Lisa Murphy’s Play: The Foundation of Children’s Learning. The ECE book club will have 3 meetings in July and August 2024, and will provide a space for discussion, reflection, and practical application. All are welcome! Meeting dates are planned for July 10^th (Part 1), July 29^th (Part 2), and August 14^th (Part 3). All book club meetings will be held from 1-2:30pm.

SB 1263 Workgroup Application

The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is seeking applicants to serve on a workgroup that will meet and make advisory recommendations to the Commission regarding the design and implementation of California’s currently approved Teaching Performance Assessments (TPAs). The workgroup will be comprised of classroom teachers, teacher educators, and professionals who have expertise with TPAs. Visit the SB 1263 Workgroup Application to apply. Applications are due by August 15, 2024, 5:00 p.m.

PK-3 ECE Community Circle – 8/19/24
The upcoming PK-3 Community Circle is set for Monday, August 19, 2024, from 11:00 am-12:30 pm. Join us as we discuss our thoughts on this summer’s book club Lisa Murphy’s Play: The Foundation of Children’s Learning. Individuals involved in developing a PK-3 ECE Credential program, along with professionals in early childhood education and teacher preparation, are encouraged to join. All are welcome! ECE Office Cafe – 08/20/24
The ECE Office Café is replacing ECE Office hours with an exciting new once-a-month meeting format. The ECE Community is invited to participate in a live discussion session on a pre-selected topic, information sharing, and resource development. Time at the end of the meeting will be devoted to questions directed at Commission staff. The topic for the August ECE Office Cafe is The Child Development Permit: ECE’s understanding of the CDP right now and the CDP of the future. The ECE team encourages participants to have their cameras on, a beverage of choice in hand, and a “cheers to…” toast ready to share at the ECE Office Café on August 20^th 12:00-1:00 pm.
